Frequently Asked Questions

These are a few of the more common questions we get asked by prospective clients considering using our services…

Q: How easy is it to change accountants and why should I change?

A:  Changing accountants to us is very easy. It involves just one letter from you to your current accountants and we take care of everything else for you.  The bigger question is – should you change accountants?  If you are thinking of changing then obviously something is not quite right whether the problem is with their work, their fees or how they deal with you.  Talk to us to see what we can do for you, what our costs will be and how we will work with you, then you can make the decision if the move to us is right for you. Many times we’ve had clients come to us who struggle to talk to their accountants, sometimes because they get jargon back that they don’t understand, sometimes it’s as simple as every time they speak to them they get a bill, that’s not how we work. Accountancy isn’t just numbers, it’s people and personal relationships too.

Q: You seem to offer a lot. Are your fees expensive?

A: We’re not always the cheapest and as with many things in life the cheapest can turn out to be more expensive in the long run. However, we are not expensive and we offer excellent value for what we provide. We like to work with you, to help you produce the best records you can therefore making our work quicker and your bill smaller. We’re still here to help if you need us to, to keep you compliant with your accounting and tax obligations, but not to create work and fees for ourselves.

Q: I’ve just had my accounts done and don’t need an accountant until next year, so is there any need to contact you now?

A: If you’re thinking of changing accountants then you should do it sooner rather than later. Even if you’ve only just had your accounts done, if you move straight after then the benefits you’re moving for are received earlier. It also stops your old accountant doing work that might need repeating and provides a nice clear line in the sand between old and new. Doing everything at the last minute just before your accounts are needed can make the change feel ‘hurried’.

Q: Will you come to visit us for an initial consultation?

A: Yes. It often helps to see your business, books and records, etc at first hand and we are always happy to invest our time without charge to show you what we can do. Of course, if you prefer to visit us, that’s fine too.

Q: When and how soon can you come to see us?

A: When’s good for you? Let us know and we’ll do our utmost to help as soon as we can.

Q: What does “Aird” mean?

A: We have been asked a few times so we have answered this in our Practice News  – Why Aird?
